Date Paste

This whole food, all natural sweetener is a much needed component of many plant-based sweet treats. It’s so easy to make, whip it up this week! While you’re at it, use it to make some delicious Power Balls, that are sure to boost your energy through hump day and beyond!

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz medjool dates
  • 1 cup water

Method
 

  1. Remove all the pits from your dates. Don’t miss this step, or your food processor is gonna hate you!
  2. Add all dates to a medium saucepan and add 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer.

  3. Cover and let simmer 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Add cooked dates to food processor and process until smooth and creamy.

Notes

Alternatively, place in microwave safe dish and microwave for 1-2 minutes.
I did not have success using my blender for this, but depending on the type you have, it could be and option. If you do not have a blender, simply simmer until very soft and mash by hand (it will not be quite as smooth but still equally tasty and usable!).
